KANPUR: Six boys of an engineering college pursuing a bachelor’s degree were on Wednesday rusticated on charges of eve-teasing and unruly behaviour.
The action came after a college panel constituted to look into the matter found the boys guilty. “On August 21, the youths in an inebriated state teased a girl following which two of them were arrested by the police while others managed to flee,” Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) dean KA Mishra said.
Among the six, all of third year, two students Ankur Rathore (mechanical engineering) and Vijay Kumar (plastic engineering) were held guilty for teasing the girl and rusticated for a semester, chief proctor SK Upadhyay said.
Four others who accompanied them Pawan Kumar (civil engineering) and Vijay Prakash (plastic engineering) have been rusticated for 45 days while Ankush (IT) and Shashank Mishra (electronics) have been rusticated for one month.
