Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Mysore Campus is situated at Mysore in the Indian state of Karnataka. Amrita University was started by the world-renowned humanitarian leader, Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi, Amma. Amrita University is a multi-campus, multi-disciplinary research and teaching university located in India. The University head quarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, is one of the youngest group of educational institutions in India to have been granted the university status under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956. Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India has awarded the elite Category A status to the university for its Academic Excellence. The university also received an A grade from National Assessment and Accreditation Council as per the new grading system for the next five years.
The two campuses, Amritapuri and Ettimadai had humble beginnings. Both the campuses started as computer training centres and slowly evolved into colleges, christened as Amrita Institute of Technology(AITEC) , where the AITEC,Amritapuri was affiliated to the University of Kerala and AITEC, Ettimadai was affiliated to the Bharathiyar University. The University Headquarters are at Ettimadai in a picturesque campus near the foothills of the Western Ghats, about twenty km from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Extensive interaction between all campuses is made possible through the Amrita-ISRO satellite network for e-learning.

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has five campuses, with the headquarters in Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Its five campuses are in the three states of South India, in Kerala at Amritapuri and Kochi, in Karnataka at Bangalore and Mysore, and in Tamil Nadu at Ettimadai. The university is also planning to open up new campuses in Ahmadabad, Gujarat, Hyderabad & Vishakapatnam (Vizag) Andhra Pradesh and one in New Delhi.
Admission:
A competitive entrance examination the Amrita Engineering Entrance Examination(AEEE) is conducted to find the best of talents in and outside India.

1. Amrita Schools of Arts and Sciences
The Schools offer Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Bachelor of Business Management (BBM), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science and Information Technology degree programs.
2. Amrita School of Communication and Education
The School offers the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) degree program. Communication (BA and MA) BA in Mass Communication, which helps prepare students for careers in journalism, short film making and advertising, is modelled on UNESCO guidelines. Amrita University was one among the first Indian Universities to adopt the UNESCO model curriculum.
