Note : Question no. 1 is compulsory. Answer any three
questions from the rest.
1. (a) A man who is the owner of a winery, recently passed away. In his will be left 21 barrels (seven of which are filled with wine, seven are half-filled and seven are empty) to his three daughters. However, the wine and barrels must be split so that each daughter has the same number of full barrels, same number of
half-filled barrels and same number of empty barrels. (5)
Note that there are no measuring devices handy. How can the barrels and wine be so divided ?
(b) What is a Browser ? Differentiate between Gopher and World Wide Web browsing mechanisms. (5)
(c) Explain the following functions, giving their syntax and usage : (10)
(i) HLOOKUP()
(ii) AND()
(iii) REPLACE()
(iv) PROPER()
(v) CEILING()
(d) What is a Pivot table ? List the sources from which a pivot table can be created. Write the steps for
creating a Pivot table. (5)
(e) Seventeen people correspond by mail with one another, each one with all the rest. In the letters only
three different topics are discussed' Each pair of correspondents deals with only one of these topics
Prove that there are at least three people who write to each other about the same topic. (5)
2. What is Internet ? Briefly explain the working of Internet. Also explain four methods of connecting to the Internet. (10)
3. (a) What are charts, and why are they created in Excel ? Explain any six chart components. (5)
(b) What are functions ? Explain any four categories of functions, giving one example of each category. (5)
4. (a) What is the use of Search Engines on the Internet ? List any six commonly used search engines. (5)
(b)Find the smallest number n which has the following properties : (5)
(i) Its decimal representation has 4 as the last digit.
(ii) It is divisible by 3 and 8.
(iii) It is a square number.
5. (a) How can we create controls on the worksheet ? Explain any four controls, and how they can be
formatted. (5)
(b) What is E-Mail ? How is it different from postal mail ? Explain any six components of the Message (5)
