1. (a) Explain the Von Neumann architecture of a computer with the help of a diagram. (5)
(b) Define computer virus. How do they infect and spread in a computer system ? Explain at least three categories of viruses on the basis of
their mode of existence. Give three examples of computer viruses. (8)
(c) What are Screen Savers ? Write steps to set-up a screen saver for your computer. (5)
(d) What are Macros ? Mention the uses of macros. Write steps for recording and running a macro with the help of an example. (6)
(e) Write the steps involved in creating a presentation using Powerpoint to include the following tasks and
by selecting the corresponding slide layout(s) : (6)
(i) To include a title for the presentation
(ii) To include a chart and text on the same slide
(iii) Bulleted lists
(iv) Media clip and some text
(v) Text over some objects
(vi) Text in the form of column
2. (a) What are Document Templates ? List their uses. Explain the format of at least three commonly used document templates and write the
steps to use them in your document. (5)
(b) What do you understand by formatting a disk ? Write steps for formatting a disk and explain the various options for formatting a disk?(5)

(b) What is the function of the Briefcase in Windows 95 ? Explain the steps to use the Briefcase. (3)
(c) With the help of a diagram, explain the synchronous and asynchronous mode of transmission. (3)
