Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) is situated at New Raipur in Chhattisgarh, India. It is one of esteemed national law schools in India. It was established as a centre for legal excellence by the Government of Chhattisgarh under the Hidayatullah National University of Law, Chattisgarh, Act (Act No.10 of 2003). HNLU being one of the most prestigious centre for legal education in India offers innumerable opportunities for the students to interact with academicians, lawyers, Judges, firms, banking and other related institutions.
HNLU is a Residential University and is sixth in the series of National Law Schools in India. HNLU has been included in the list of the Universities maintained by the University Grants Commission under Section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 and has been declared fit to receive Central assistance in terms of the rules framed under Section 12 (B) of the UGC Act, 1956. The university is recognized by the Bar Council of India under section 7 of the Advocates Act.

Admission:
Admission is made strictly on the basis of merit as assessed through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) conducted each year. The Undergraduate test paper covers the following subjects: (i) English including Comprehension (ii) General Knowledge/Current Affairs (iii) Elementary Mathematics (Numerical ability) (iv) Legal Aptitude Logical Reasoning. The Post-graduate test paper covers the following subject areas:Law of Contracts, Law of Torts, Family Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law and Legal Theory.
