Details For Admission Diploma in Dairy Technology (DDT)
Name of the Programme: Diploma in Dairy Technology
India ranks first in milk production in the world. The role of dairy development in increasing milk production, improving the nutritional standards of the people, generating employment opportunities and enhancing income level in rural areas especially for small and marginal farmers and agriculture labourers has been well established. Dairying is on the threshold of large-scale expansion. Over the years, we are maintaining the milk production growth rate of about 4 per cent. It is projected that by the year 2020, the milk production in the country would be 168 million tonnes. The Indian Dairy Industry is poised to play a major role in the global dairy market. The changing dimensions in food processing industry calls for handling of more milk by the organized sector, production of value added products and to follow the good manufacturing practices. Consequent to enforcement of Food Safety and Standard Bill and Sanitary and Phyto-Sanitary (SPS) measures, under the World Trade Order (WTO) agreement, the dairy plants will have to put in place strict quality control mechanism ensuring international quality standards and hygienic conditions. It is believed that to cater to the need of modern dairy plants in public, private and cooperative sectors a large number of skilled manpower will be needed.
