Announcements | IGNOU launches programmes in Urdu, Arabic
Owing to the significance of Urdu and Arabic in Indian history and heritage, IGNOU has launched two new programmes - BA (Elective) Programme in Urdu and Certificate Programme in Arabic.
The eligibility for the BA (Elective) Programme in Urdu, offered by the School of Humanities (SOH), is Urdu as one of the subjects at 10+2 level. Diploma holders from IGNOU in the language are also eligible for admission.
The Certificate Programme in Arabic, offered by the School of Foreign Languages (SOFL), aims at acquainting beginners with the essentials of Arabic language and systematically inculcate in them the ability to read, write and speak the language with a certain degree of accuracy and confidence. Those who have successfully completed their 10+2 or are 18 years and above are eligible for the programme.
Initially, the programme will be launched in the following Centres from the January 2011 session: IGNOU Study Centre (0742), New Horizon School, Nizamuddin East, New Delhi; IGNOU Study Centre (1403) JDT Islam, Calicut and IGNOU International Study Centre (6101) Saudi Arabia, Educational Consulting and Guidance Services, Jeddah.
Students can enroll themselves in the programmes throughout the year, either in January or July academic session. Details of the programmes are available in the common prospectus and the website of the University.
