New Delhi: In what has proved to be a blessing for students who missed out on a seat in Delhi University (DU) this year, several colleges under the varsity have opened admissions for the general category once again after a number of OBC seats couldn't be filled.
With over 1000 seats remaining vacant, students now have a chance to grab a seat in some of the most popular courses like B.Com. (Hons), Economics (Hons) and English (Hons).
At Lady Shri Ram (LSR) College, a total of 35 seats went unoccupied under the OBC quota. An official release from the college said, "There are a few seats available in some subjects. Students with the percentages mentioned and who meet the college guidelines for the required subject may apply with the strict understanding that application to the college doesnot guarantee admission".
At LSR, the minimum percentage required for admission is: Economics (Hons) 92.5%, Mathematics (Hons) 89% and Philosophy 80%. Admissions are also open in Political Science (88%), Psychology (92%), Sanskrit (45%) and B.A. Programme (88%) at the college.
Indraprastha College has around 60 seats vacant in B.Com (Hons) and B.A. Programme. A relaxation of 10% will be given to OBC candidates for admission into these courses.
A total of 41 seats are also vacant at Kirori Mal College in courses including English (Hons), B.A. (Programme) and History (Hons).
Other colleges which have vacant seats include Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma (ARSD) College (33 seats), Daulat Ram College (55 seats), Dyal Singh College (35 seats), Gargi College (45 seats), Hindu College (9 seats) and Zakir Hussain College (50 seats).
