New Delhi, (IANS) Cherie Blair, wife of former British premier Tony Blair, Friday visited Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, interacted with the students and spoke about the plight of underprivileged people in the society.
Cherie Blair, who is president of the Loomba Trust, also spoke about the plight of widows who are deprived of all rights in society and whose property is snatched by others. She appealed to the audience to take up the cause of providing education to the children of poor widows.
Accompanied by Raj Loomba, founder of the trust, Cherie also witnessed a dance and drama show presented by the DPS students in the evening.
DPS Society chairman Ashok Chandra reiterated his commitment to supporting the cause of the underprivileged. The society is running a school for the under-privileged children in Delhi.
