Fiscal year 2008-09 has not been the best of time for companies across the globe. It has been no different for IT and BPO industry in the country. With unemployment spiraling up globally, the rhetoric against outsourcing only got shriller in both Europe and USA. The backlash hit Indian IT companies already struggling against recession and turmoil in their core BFSI market.

Faced with adverse economic climate, Indian BPOs went on to reinvent their strategies, diversifying both vertically and geographically. But what about employees? Did the hallowed HR policies of BPOs also became a causality on the way? Could the BPOs in the country hold to their so-called HR best practices during these tough times? Or the bar came down?
Annual DQ-IDC BPO survey ranks the top BPO employers of the country. Here's looking into who all could save their ranking this year, and who fell in face of adversity.

1. vCustomer

vCustomer

vCustomer scores perfect 100 on the fairness of appraisal system and tax-efficient salary structure. According to the survey, the company received a good score on work culture, job content, training, salary, appraisal and gender inclusivity.
However, the company was not rated too highly on employee training.

2. Allsec Technologies

Allsec Technologies

At No 2 on the Top BPO employers list is Allsec Technologies, jumping two spots from its previous year. The company provides services across industries such as banking and financial services, telecom, retail, healthcare, technology, automotive and gaming.
What makes it part of best employers is compensation model, perks and benefits. The company scored a perfect 100 on compensation front, according to the survey. However, employee training seems to be a major issue at Allsec Technologies. According to the company HR head, the company did not invest in training this year due to ongoing downturn. Another area where the company received low marks is infrastructure.
