According to CAT committee convener Satish Deodhar, "We will try to reschedule all exams that cannot be taken by December 7. But right now, we cannot confirm anything. If need be, we might need to extend the dates beyond December as well.''
The online CAT was finally conducted without any major glitches at most centres in the capital on Tuesday.
While rescheduing of the test continued for test takers who were unable to take it at the first go, a few students, surprisingly, were asked to take the CAT again, never mind that they'd already sat for it once, successfully.
Said Ulhas Vairagkar, director, TIME coaching centre, "Four of our students told us they were asked by Prometric to take the test again. But there was no reason mentioned in the message." According to Vairagkar, the four students, after having appeared for CAT once on Monday, sat for it again on Tuesday. However, Prometric denied any reports of recalling any candidates.
A Prometric official stated in an email reply, "It is highly unlikely that candidates who have already taken the CAT would have been asked to sit for it again. We are not aware of any such occurrences as of today and will further investigate this matter. These candidates may contact CAT Candidate Care for any clarification."
Meanwhile, the test was again cancelled Tuesday at some testing sites in Bhopal and Bangalore. Punching holes in the `virus attack' theory given by Prometric on Sunday, Aptech CEO Ninad Karpe said: "We have not conducted tests at the global level but Aptech, through Attest, its online test and examination system, has conducted over 2.5 million computer-based tests for corporates, distance education and entrance exams for educational institutions for over four years, without any glitches. One of the reasons why we have been able to do so is because our test centers are exclusively designed for testing and nothing else.
