NCHMCT-JEE | National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology – Joint Entrance Exam

Admission to the first year of the 3-Year B.Sc. Hospitality and Hotel Administration Programme at affiliated Institute of Hotel Management all over the country is through Joint Entrance Examination conducted by National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology and Indira Gandhi National Open University .

National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The Council centrally regulates academics for hospitality and hotel administration and other eleven structured courses of studies that are imparted at the existing 26 Institutes of Hotel Management and 10 Food Craft Institutes located in different parts of the country. All Institutes uniformly follow standardized course curricula prescribed by the Council for the different professional programmes.

The Bachelor of Science programme in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The Three-Year programme equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The programme involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food and Beverage Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping and providing managerial inputs i.e. Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety and Quality, Management in Tourism, Human Resource Management, Facility Planning, Financial Management, Strategic Management and Tourism Marketing etc.

On national level about 80% graduates are employed by Hospitality and other service sectors through campus recruitment from IHMs affiliated with NCHMCT.

Admission to the affiliated hotel management and food craft institutes shall be based on marks obtained by the candidate in All India (written test) JEE - examination . Allotment of Institute shall strictly be in order of merit & rank under different categories. No group discussions or personal interviews are involved in this admission process.

Eligibility:

Educational Qualification: Should have passed +2 stage of 10+2 system or equivalent examination in any stream with English as one of the subjects.   Candidates appearing in +2 or equivalent examination can also apply.

Age Limit: Maximum 22 years as on 1st July (of the year of admission) in case of General and PH Categories and 25 years as on 1st July the year of (admission) for SC & ST Cate.

Physical Fitness: 
All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate from a Registered Medical Practitioner at the time of admission.

Reservation : 
Scheduled Caste: 15%; Scheduled Tribe: 7½% ; Physically Handicapped: 3%; Kashmiri Migrant: One seat in each IHM on supernumerary basis subject to  notification by Ministry of HRD

Language of Question Paper:

For each question you will be awarded on mark if you have darkened only one bubble corresponding to the correct answer. In case you have not darkened any bubble, you will be awarded zero mark for that question . There will be negative marking to the extent of half mark for darkening a wrong bubble. There will be no negative marking for S.N. iii (Service & Hospitality aptitude)

Admission Procedure:

Information Brochure and Application Form can be obtained from the Institutes of Hotel Management / Food Craft Institutes and designated bank branches as listed by the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology on payment of some requisite amount. It can also be downloaded from the Council’s website www.nchmct.org

Duly completed Application Form, along with Acknowledgement Card and Admit Cards (in triplicate), should be sent to "JEE CELL" National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Library Avenue, Pusa Complex, New Delhi-110012" in the pre-addressed envelope. Do not staple or paste the Acknowledgement Card and Admit Cards with the Application Form. Ensure that the Application Form is not folded. Sealed envelope containing filled in Application Form, Acknowledgement Card and Admit Cards be sent through Registered Post/ Speed Post only.

Result of Written Test

Result of Written Test shall be announced on the web site of the National Council. Call letters for Centralised Counselling shall be mailed to the shortlisted candidates. However, candidates can download their call letter and associated conditions and directions form website i.e. www.nchmct.org by entering their roll number and attend counselling.

Centralized Counselling will be held for on the-spot allotment of Institute to candidates based on their merit and ranking in JEE. Candidates called for centralized Counselling as per schedule given in inner last page should bring original and attested copies of following certificates:

  • Result of 10+2 (mark sheet) issued by respective Boards of Examination.
  • Proof of Age as per Secondary School Certificates.
  • Original and Attested copies of Secondary Examination marksheet .
  • Caste / Physically Handicapped Certificate (wherever applicable).
  • Candidates called for Counselling should also bring a non refundable requisite amount of Demand Draft drawn in favour of National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology payable at New Delhi.

Institute once allotted at the time of Counselling will be final. The National Council does not allow inter-institute transfer or migration on any ground during the duration of the course. As such, no request for transfer or migration will be entertained.
