Indian Economic Service/India Statistical Service Examination 2010
A combined competitive examination for recruitment to Grade IV of the Services mentioned in Para 2 below will be held by the Union Public Service Commission commencing on 4th December 2010 in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation in the Gazette of india dated the 05th June, 2010.
Eligibility Conditions:
Age:
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st January, 2010, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd January, 1980 and not later than 1st January, 1989.
(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable as follows: (i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe. (ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates. (iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989. (iv) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof:
Minimum Educational Qualifications :
A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Busines Economics/Econometrics and a candidate for the Indian Statistical must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or a foreign university approved by the Central Govt. from time to time.
Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2010 as per Regulations given in Appendix III of the rules for the Indian Economic/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2010 published in Gazette of India dated 05th June, 2010.
How to Apply:
The UPSC have developed an application form common for all their examinations which will be processed on computerised machines. This application form alongwith an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledegment card and an envelope for sending the application is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices throughout the country as listed in Appendix-III of Notice against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees twenty only). Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only and not from any other agency. This form can be used only once and for only one examination. The duly filled in application form and the acknowledgement card should then be mailed in the special envelope supplied with the Information Brochure. You should also write the name of examination viz. "Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination, 2010" on the envelope before despatching it to "Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069".

Examination Fee: (a) Candidates applying Offline (through Common Application Form) are required to pay a fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) through a single Central Recruitment Fee Stamp. All Female Candidates and Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee. No Fee exemption is, However, Available to OBC Candidates and they are required to pay the Full prescribed fee.
(b) Candidates applying Online (excepting Female/SC/ST/Physically Handicapped candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs. 50/- (Rupees Fifty only) either by remitting the money in any branch of SBI by Cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
Last date for receipt of applications :
(a) OFFLINE:
(i) The completed Offline Application Form must reach the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 by post or by personal delivery at the Commission’s counter on or before 05th July, 2010.
(ii) In respect of offline applications received only by post (by post/speed post) from the candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul and Spiti District and Pangi Sub-Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands or Lakshadweep or abroad, the last date for receipt of applications is 12th July, 2010. The benefit of extended time will be available only in respect of applications received by post/speed post from the above mentioned areas/regions. In the case of applications received by hand or through courier service, benefit of extended time will not be available regardless of the place of residence of the applicant.
(b) ONLINE:
The Online Application can be filled up to 28th June, 2010 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled.
