Birla Institute Of Applied Sciences (BIAS) is situated in the most picturesque surroundings of the lake town of Bhimtal, in the Nainital district of Uttaranchal. The Institute has synergistic networking with Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi , along with its extension centers at Noida, Allahabad, Jaipur, Muscat, Ras Al Khaimah and Bahrain as well as with other prestigious organizations.It finds its origins in the educational and scientific research endowments of the G. P. Birla Group of Industries. The Birla Institute of Applied Sciences, Bhimtal or BIAS, Bhimtal, is a sister concern of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi. This institute has a full 4-year B.Tech course in Electronics & Communication and Computer Sciences and a 3-year MCA affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University (earlier it was affiliated to Kumaun University).

Central Library:

The institute central library is a quite serene place; well equipped with documents that caters the information demand of the student & staff of the institute. The library is currently have collection of around 5000 volumes which contains books, CDs, projects reports etc. the library is growing steadily which approximately 600 documents per year. The library is subscribing 32 periodicals, 16 magazines including technical titles and 16 journals from both national & international publications.
