The institute was founded by Ghanshyam Das Birla in 1929 as an intermediate college. In 1946, it was converted into the Birla Engineering College with degree programmes in electrical and mechanical engineering. Masters programme in Electronics began in 1955. Birla Institute of Technology & Science, (known as BITS Pilani) is an Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Sec. 3 of the UGC Act and features in the world map as a renowned science and technology institute. In 1964, the Birla Colleges of Arts, Commerce, Engineering, Pharmacy and Science were merged to form the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) with Dr. G.D.Birla as the founder chairman. 1. Integrated First Degree Programs:
B.E.(Hons), B.Pharm.(Hons.), M.Sc.(Hons.), M.Sc.(Tech.) Degrees... (For admission to any of the above Integrated First Degree programmes Candidates should have passed the 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central or State board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Further the candidate should have obtained a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, with at least 60% marks in each of the Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects and should have adequate proficiency in English.)

3. Master of Business Administration:
