Motilal Nehru National Institute Of Technology, Allahabad was formerly Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College, Allahabad . The institute is located in the city of Allahabad in the state of Uttar Pradesh. It was formerly known as Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College and was affiliated to University of Allahabad. Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College was established in the year 1961 as a joint enterprise of Centre and Govt of Uttar Pradesh. The foundation stone of the institute was laid down by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India and the institute was named after his father, renowned lawyer and freedom fighter, Motilal Nehru. In surveys by Dataquest magazine the institute consistently ranks amongst the top-20 T-schools in India. The institute scores very highly in parameters such as Placements, Infrastructure and Academic Environment.
The main building of college was inaugurated by Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on April 18, 1965. With effect from June 26 of 2002 the college became deemed university and is now known as Motilal Nehru National Institute of technology.
The students are extensively exposed to cross-cultural environment as candidates from various other countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Mauritius, Malaysia, Iran, Yemen, Iraq, Palestine and Thailand also join MNNIT for various undergraduate and post-graduate programs. MNNIT is fully residential institution with seven hostels for boys and two for girls. One hostel is exclusively for post graduate students.

Facilities:
The whole college is well connected by 100 Mbps LAN, and all the hostels are provided with Internet facility. The computer center is well equipped with state of the art latest servers. The Computer Centre is connected to INTERNET through 6 MB lease line. The students can avail the bank facility. we have branches of both vijaya bank and SBI in the college. The college Dispensary is an out patient dispensary catering the following need of approximately 2000 students and another 3000 staff & their dependents on all working days of the college from 8 am to 6 pm.

The Institute admits nearly 500 students to undergraduate programs and another 150 students to postgraduate programs every year. The Ministry Of Human Resources and Development has awarded the deemed university status to the Institute on 26th of June 2002.The institute has been renamed as Motilal Nehru National Institute Of Technology and was formerly known as Motilal Nehru Regional Engineering College.

Admission:
Under Graduate Programme
The students willing to study B.Tech. in any branch of engineering at MNNIT Allahabad requires appearing in AIEEE entrance test.
AIEEE – All India Engineering Entrance Examination is conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
Post Graduate Programmes
M.Tech. Programme
The Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree programme is offered by all the departments of MNNIT, Allahabad. The duration of programme is 4 semesters / 2 years. The third and fourth of study involves THESIS work.
The admission to different M.Tech. programme is offered on the basis of following -
- The students qualified in GATE – Graduate Aptitude test in Engineering is eligible to apply for M.Tech admission. However an additional entrance test is also held on the basis of which final admission list is decided. For further details on GATE.
- Admission to college teachers is offered on the basis of Quality Improvement Programme.For details on QIP.
- The industry sponsored candidates are also considered for admission.
Master of Computer Applications
The Department of Computer Science of the Institute offers 60 seats out of these, 30 seats are for graduates from UP Universities and 30 seats for graduates of other state Universities.The admission to MCA programme is made on the basis of NIMCET – NIT MCA Common Entrance Test.
Master of Business Administration
The institute offers admission to the following management programme -
