Muthayammal College of Arts & Science was established in the year 1994. It is affiliated to Periyar University, Salem. It not only caters to the need of Rasipuram and neighbouring areas but also draws a good number of students from the neighbouring states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka. The college campus with imposing buildings is situated 5 km away from Rasipuram on the east in a calm, serene, rural area and is well connected by buses. Nestled amidst the sylvan steeings of verdant farmlands, the college provides a serene ambiance to facilitate focused learning.

The College now offers 15 programmes at the undergraduate level and 17 programmes at the Postgraduate level. Three departments viz. Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology have been recognized as centers for research leading to M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees, by Periyar University, Salem, Tamil Nadu, India

Library: There are two libraries, the library started in the year 1994 with 2000 volumes, has steadily grown in stature and at present it accommodates 17,000 volumes of books and 150 journals & magazines including International Journals.

Computer Centre: The Computer Centre was established with the objective of providing computational environment for the academic and research community of the institution and also cater to the computational needs of faculty members.

Hostels: Separate hostels for UG students, PG students and girl students are available respectively. Hostel rooms are bath attached.
