S.P.Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), Mumbai

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan's S.P.Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) grew rapidly in eminence from one of the three B-schools in the country in 1981 to one of the top ten B-schools in the country by 1994-1995. Since then, it has continued to retain this position with ease during the last decade.

SPJIMR offers two year PGDM and a one year PGPM program, all equivalent to an MBA degree. Other programs include Family Managed Business (FMB) and an Executive Management Program. The institute also offers various short term courses for specialized needs.

SPJIMR has to its credit five centers with multifarious activities, two-year full time postgraduate diploma (equivalent to MBA) and a few continuing executive education programmes. It has also made its presence felt in global arena and has truly become a larger than B-school.

Programmes:

1. Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) (2 year full time)

The Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is a two-year, full time, residential programme. The programme offers specializations in finance, operations, marketing and information management and is ranked among the top ten in the country. The emphasis of the programme is to develop in the candidate the ability to translate theory into practice. It aims at promoting an inquiring & analytical mind, which proactively seeks the right knowledge, acquires the appropriate skills and promotes the right attitude to develop capabilities needed to manage enterprises in the twenty-first century. This programme is now in its 25th year and has a number of successful alumni in senior positions across the industry.

Eligibility

Minimum 3 years of Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University in India or abroad.

2. Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) (1 year full time)

The Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), formerly known as Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), is a one-year, full time residential programme. The program offers specializations in operations and information management, and is ranked among the top three of its kind. The specializations are chosen at the time of admission.

The mission of the programme is to create and nurture value-based future leaders taking on higher management roles in transforming organizations. The programme admits working professionals from various domains and leading industries, to enable knowledge sharing and peer learning. The unique aspect of the programme is its focus on the specific role and domain of interest to the participant. Still, it also aims at producing Versatilists as against Generalists and Specialists.

The programme considers CAT, XAT and GMAT scores for admission, but unlike some other institutions, it places more emphasis on academic performance, versatility in extra-curricular activities and a minimum work experience of 5 years.

Duration

PGPM is a 11 months full-time residential Programme with six months online learning as a pre foundation before joining the course.

Eligibility

Minimum 3 years of Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized University in India or abroad.

Work experience of 5 years after graduation.

3. Post Graduate Diploma in Systems Management & Masters in Information Technology (PGDSM-MIT)

"After a successful run for four consecutive batches the Post Graduate Diploma in Systems Management & Masters in Information Technology PGDSM-MIT, a unique two year globally focused dual degree program in Systems Management offered by SPJIMR in collaboration with Virginia Tech (VT), USA has been temporarily suspended as we could not obtain the necessary approval from AICTE.

4. The Family Managed Business (FMB)

The Family Managed Business (FMB) programme is designed for candidates to lead their family businesses, helping them meet unique challenges associated with operating and sustaining a successful family enterprise.

The duration of the program is 2 years and includes a foreign visit. The participants spent a week at the institute to learn and the remaining three weeks of the month at their workplace, to apply the learning. The duration of Owner Manager Programme is only twelve months.

The programme considers graduate candidates with a significant stake in a family business. Selection requires sponsorship from the business, a test and a personal interview. The degree awarded is a Post Graduate Programme in Management.

The programme is now in the 12 year of running.

Eligibility

The FMB Programme is open to graduate family members with a significant stake in the family business. Sponsorship by the business is essential. Selection is through assessment of the application followed by a test and personal interview.

5. Executive Management Programme (EMP)

The Executive Management Programme (EMP) is a non-residential programme, for working professionals, similar to an EMBA, with 60 full day classes on campus, spread over a period of 21 months and various contact sessions.

The aim of this program is to develop a reservoir of versatile executives with functional knowledge and a general management perspective, to meet the emerging business challenges.

The programme considers graduates with minimum 5 years of experience along with a good track record. The programme mandates the support of the candidate's company.

Eligibility

Graduates with minimum 5 years experience and with a good track record and who are backed up/supported by their companies to do the program.
